Strategic Endorsement Highlights Untapped Value

FRC Analyst's Comment

We have commenced due diligence on AZS, and expect to initiate coverage in the coming weeks. The company primarily offers exposure to gold and silver, while also offering strategic exposure to antimony. We remain bullish on gold and silver, supported by safe-haven demand, geopolitical uncertainty, and potential US$ weakness.

AZS owns three pre-resource-stage projects: the Philadelphia gold-silver and Sycamore Canyon gold-silver projects in Arizona, and the Silverton gold project in Nevada. All three are located in established mining jurisdictions, with strong infrastructure and proximity to major producers.

Philadelphia: Flagship Project With Multi-Million-Ounce Potential

Philadelphia is the company’s flagship asset, and primary exploration focus. Located in Mohave county, Arizona’s historic Oatman mining district, the project is situated in a prolific gold-producing region, that has historically produced more than 2.5 Moz of gold.

AZS has identified a 3 km-long gold-silver system, with 1.5 km drilled to date. One of the project’s key highlights is its high-grade drilling results, including 60.37 m at 4.36 g/t gold, with a high-grade core of 4.33 m at 19.37 g/t. We note that these grades are notably high for gold projects, making the project potentially attractive to larger producers seeking to expand their resource base. Higher grades support stronger project economics through higher production and lower OPEX.

Despite no formal resource estimate, drilling to date highlights significant potential, including a broad bulk-tonnage target (large size, relatively low to medium grade) with potential for 2–5 Moz of gold, within which a high-grade target could contain 1 Moz of gold. We believe this positions Philadelphia as a large-scale project, with the high-grade zone potentially supporting a standalone project.

Source: FRC / Management Targets

Valuation: Significant Discount to Gold Peers: AZS’s $109M enterprise value implies $32/oz of target gold resources vs. ~$95/oz for our gold-junior universe, a 66% discount. We believe this steep valuation discount suggests the market has yet to recognize the project’s potential.

Strategic Investment Validates Philadelphia Potential: The potential of AZS’s exploration portfolio received a notable endorsement from Evolution Mining (ASX: EVN), which recently invested $12M, and acquired a 9.9% stake in AZS. Evolution is a large-cap, globally diversified gold producer with a MCAP of $32B, making its strategic investment a meaningful validation of AZS’s exploration potential.

In addition, long-term strategic holders and early backers collectively own 41% of the company, while renowned mining investor Sprott owns 6.3%. Strong insider and strategic ownership provide additional alignment, and confidence in the company’s development strategy.

Catalysts: Near-term catalysts include continued drilling at Philadelphia, and further testing and confirmation of the identified targets. Successful exploration results could provide a series of catalysts as the company advances toward defining a maiden resource.

Our upcoming initiation report will provide a detailed review of AZS’s portfolio, management’s strategy for advancing its projects, and our comprehensive valuation, including a fair value estimate.
