Ready Capital Corporation is a U.S.-based entity primarily engaged in real estate financing. The company's operations involve the acquisition, origination, management, servicing, and financing of a diverse portfolio of loan products. This includes small to medium balance commercial (SBC) loans, Small Business Administration (SBA) loans, residential mortgage loans, and mortgage-backed securities predominantly backed by SBC loans or other real estate-related investments. Ready Capital's business activities are structured across three main segments: SBC Lending and Acquisitions: Through its subsidiary, ReadyCap Commercial, LLC, this division specializes in originating SBC loans. These loans are secured by investor properties, whether stabilized or in transition, and are sourced via various origination channels. Small Business Lending: Leveraging its subsidiary ReadyCap Lending, LLC, this segment focuses on acquiring, originating, and servicing owner-occupied loans. These specific loans are guaranteed by the SBA under its Section 7(a) Program. Residential Mortgage Banking: Operating through its subsidiary, GMFS, LLC, this segment is dedicated to the origination of residential mortgage loans. For federal income tax purposes, the company qualifies as a real estate investment trust (REIT). This status generally allows it to avoid federal corporate income taxes, provided it distributes at least 90% of its taxable income to its stockholders. Established in 2007, Ready Capital Corporation is headquartered in New York, New York. It was formerly known as Sutherland Asset Management Corporation and officially adopted its current name in September 2018.
