Managed by Deutsche Investment Management Americas Inc., this closed-end mutual fund concentrates its investments on the municipal fixed-income markets within the United States. The fund's strategy involves acquiring a mix of high-quality, investment-grade municipal securities (or those of similar caliber) alongside higher-yielding, sub-investment-grade municipal bonds. A primary goal is to invest in securities that offer exemption from federal income tax. All potential investments must meet minimum credit ratings of at least B from Moody's or B- from Standard & Poor's. Its financial performance is benchmarked against the Barclays Municipal Bond Index. Established in the U.S. on March 22, 1988, it was formerly known as DWS Strategic Municipal Income Trust.
