The investment seeks to provide long-term capital appreciation. The fund pursues its investment objective by investing primarily in common and preferred stocks, as well as fixed income securities. It also invests in equity investment companies ("underlying funds"), which include foreign and domestic mutual funds, as well as in exchange traded funds ("ETFs"), closed-end funds, and unit investment trusts.
