Bank of America Corporation, operating globally through its various divisions, offers a comprehensive suite of banking and financial solutions to a broad spectrum of clients, including individual customers, small and mid-sized companies, institutional investors, major corporations, and governmental entities. The Consumer Banking division caters to individuals with a range of deposit options like standard and money market savings, certificates of deposit (CDs), and IRAs, alongside checking accounts that may or may not accrue interest. It also issues credit and debit cards, facilitates residential mortgages and home equity lending, and provides various direct and indirect consumer loans, such as those for vehicles or personal use. Bank of America's Global Wealth & Investment Management unit specializes in helping clients manage and grow their assets, delivering services such as investment management, brokerage, general banking, and trust and retirement planning. This segment also crafts tailored wealth management strategies, encompassing specialized asset management. Through its Global Banking arm, the corporation extends a variety of credit facilities, including commercial loans, leasing arrangements, commitment lines, trade financing, and both commercial real estate and asset-backed lending. It further supports businesses with treasury services like cash management, foreign exchange, short-term investment vehicles, and payment processing. Additionally, it assists with working capital optimization, underwrites and distributes debt and equity, and offers advisory services for mergers and other corporate transactions. The Global Markets division is active in facilitating financial transactions, providing market-making services, financing solutions, and ensuring the smooth clearing, settlement, and safekeeping of securities. This segment also devises risk management instruments utilizing a broad array of derivatives (covering interest rates, equities, credit, currencies, and commodities), foreign exchange, fixed-income products, and mortgage-backed securities. By the close of 2021, Bank of America's extensive network served approximately 67 million individual consumers and small businesses. This reach is supported by roughly 4,200 physical branches, approximately 16,000 ATMs, and robust digital banking platforms accessed by about 41 million active users. Established in 1784, the company maintains its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
