ManagementBrian Tang, BBA, CFA Brian has successfully led Fundamental Research Corp’s growth from start up to being named the 20th fastest growing company in B.C. in 2008 according to Business in Vancouver. During this period he, and his team, have achieved recognition for their analysis in small and micro cap companies by implementing proprietary analytical techniques, some of which have been turned into case studies at an MBA program in the United States. His research has also helped investors take more comfort in small and micro cap, and junior resource companies, to the point where Fundamental Research Corp’s research is used at some of the largest investment banks, brokerage firms, and investment management firms in the world. He is co-author of two online courses including the very successful "Evaluation of Junior Mining Companies for Investment Purposes" which has evolved into classroom courses, seminars, and is in demand at investment conferences across North America. He has authored numerous articles on finance topics and is currently a contributing editor for Canadian Money Saver Magazine. In addition, he frequently contributes time to help students interested in finance including being invited to judge The Simon Fraser University Finance International Case Competition and being an industry mentor in the Global International Research Competition hosted by the CFA Societies of BC. Brian also taught the Canadian Securities Course and the Investment Funds in Canada Course for a number of years, and has been invited to speak to finance students about the life of an analyst at local colleges in Vancouver. Brian is currently dedicated to bringing more awareness to the Exempt Markets in Canada, as he has successfully done in the small, micro cap, and junior resource sector. To this end, he is helping organize the first ever conference aimed at helping mainstream investors discover this segment of the Canadian Capital Markets. The conference, The Alternative Investment Opportunities Conference – Exempt Market Investment Opportunities in Canada, will be an annual event held in Vancouver in June. Prior to Fundamental Research Corp., Brian was an analyst in the corporate banking group of one of the world's largest international banks where he analyzed Financial Post 500 companies in a wide range of industries. He introduced new analysis techniques and models to the evaluation process during this period. Prior to this, he worked at a financial advisory firm where he analyzed and published research on Canadian equity mutual funds which was subsequently published in national newspapers such as the National Post and Globe and Mail.
